I did mine for my kids...went to a seminar last year and they spoke to us about what would we do for our kids...most of us answered "we would do anything for them ".....they asked...well why not give them the gift of a healthy mom/ dad....and a good role model....which also leads to them being healthy and therefore more confident in themselves. soo last year i lost 40lbs...every time i found it hard..i just thought of my kids. i am down to a size 8 and 140lbs...never been happier. my kids were never over weight but they def have a nicer/ healthier eating habits now which will benefit them for life.. Do it for your kids!!! have no kids ??? maybe do it for your spouse or siblings ???? anyone want advice on how i lost weight...please e- mail!

Personally...its knowing that I want to be tone and have my body look more fit. This is what gets my butt do to cardio and stop snacking. I know people who have a reward system, a "reachable goal " like your friend, the simple fact that they want to be healthier. Weight loss is a tricky topic. Lots of people are unhappy with their present weight, but most aren't sure how to change it - and many would be better off staying where they are. You may want to look like the models or actors in magazines and on TV, but those goals might not be healthy or realistic for you.
