High protein for weight loss?

Question: High protein for weight loss?

(Posted by: Want it Gone on 2010-02-08 15:37:02)

So im trying to lose some weight.. and mostly tone up. Im 15 year old girl 130 pounds. I work out 5 days a week at school 3 lap warm up. 2 days a week weight room. agility, running ect When I get home I walk for 30- 60 minutes. Then do 15- 60 minutes of ''youtube'' workouts Im trying to slowly become vegitarian, eating only chicken/ fish a few times a week. So would a high protien diet help me gain some mussle and tone up AND lose a few pounds??? What foods are high in protein & would a protein powder be a good idea?

Try giving up only red meat, because fish are a great food to help slim down with lots of protein, also try eggs and nuts. Like peanuts, almonds, pistachios. Scrambled eggs, poached, over hash browns.

You would need a organic whey protien powder which is like a milk shake. When you workout, don't workout when you have sore on your muscle or feeling pain on your muscle. You need to wait till all of your soreness goes away and then workout and you would have to repeat that break from working out, as always. That is how you build muscle. Working out while having sore would be a very bad thing because you can loss muscle this way. Also, the best thing to do is also workout your butt first and then your leg the hardest and it should be the first thing you should workout because it will also help you gain muscle all through your upper body. The upper part of your body would be the last one.

When losing weight, cardio and diet will both cause mass to be lost from your fat supply and from your muscle supply. It isn't as simple as burning fat and gaining muscle. If you do some mild weightlifting and eat enough protein, you will be able to stave off your body's metabolism of muscle tissue while it burns fat from your cardio exercise. Unless you are in terrible shape, walking will do nothing for you but waste time. I don't think anyone who weighs 130 pounds is in terrible shape-- trade the running for more time spent running, and if your legs get sore consider using an elliptical machine. Being vegetarian is tricky, and personally, I think it's always a bad decision. Dropping red meat is okay, because chicken and fish (especially fish) are ridiculously healthy for you. If you drop them too, substitute with beans, skim milk, low-fat cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.-- these all have a lot of protein in them, though they will not treat you as well as meat. Protein powder is most useful for building mass, and I don't think you would need it unless you were doing particularly hardcore weightlifting routines, which you probably shouldn't be doing.
