Question: Is this true weight loss?
(Posted by: Ashaloo on 2010-03-19 23:42:14)
A friend of mine is trying to pimp these "new " products to everyone he's connected to, asking us to visit "drinklifein.com " and saying he's lost 9 lbs in 13 days. (He's about 5'8 " and maybe 175ish...) A) Has anyone ever heard of these products? Any reviews out there? I tried a basic search, but alas it was fruitless! B) 9 lbs in 13 days sounds like a diuretic to me. What would be the standard time it would take to lose 9 lbs of actual excess fat? (I'm sorry, but I don't like to count a huge pee as weight lost... Maybe it's just me, though...) |

Eat less, burn more. Do this and you will lose weight,., but you must stick to it or nothing will happen. |

Any product that claims to help you permanently lose weight through some drink or pill is a crock. The ONLY tried and true way to lose weight, and keep it off, is with lifestyle change which includes healthy eating and exercising regularly. It IS possible to lose 9 lbs in 13 days, and people that have a lot of weight to lose commonly do lose a lot of weight the first couple of weeks, but after a few weeks (like 2 or 3) it should taper off to about a lb or 2 a week. anything more then that really isn't healthy. |

Follow the numbers: When you go over 2000 calories per day you will gain weight. When you go below 1400 calories per day you will lose weight. |

You made me laugh (about the huge pee as weight loss). Each pound of fat reserves is 3,500 calories of exercising. A person should eat enough, to make sure the body does not lower the metabolism, then the more exercising, the more fat reserves loss. A good fat reserves loss is one pound a week because you need rest days and it’s already hard to exercise for 700 calories a day over 5 days per week (it would take me about one hour and a half of exercising five times a week). A big person could lose a few pounds in a week but unless that person is exercising a lot, it’s mostly water and waste fluctuations (which are very confusing and irrelevant since only temporary). You also have to take into consideration the muscle mass gain, which sometimes might hide the fat reserves loss on a scale. (I never heard of the products you mentioned) |

I have never heard of the product on that website, but will say in general that most products sold through network marketing companies are of high quality, but as you might imagine also somewhat pricey. That said, it is quite possible to lose 9 lbs in 13 days. It is unclear if your friend was also exercising and modified his food intake in addition to taking the products mentioned in the website. The product on the website called XM3 capsules is an appetite suppressant formula that uses natural forms of caffeine and Phenylethylamine. Caffeine and phenylethylamine have the effect of suppressing appetite, which is not a healthy way to lose weight. This product called XM3 could very well have helped your friend to lose this weight, but again, I don't think appetite suppressants are a healthy way to do it. In my opinion, I would tend to avoid appetite suppressants, but the other product on the website which is based on the Moringa plant sounds very good to me. It seems to contain lots of powerful antioxidants and plant based poly-phenols which are known for having anti-cancer properties. |
